Governesses are responsible for the education of the children in her care; this can include school entrance exam preparation, exam support, and daily homework supervision. They usually accompany the children on the school run and ensure correct etiquette is adhered to at all times.
A Governess is a professional who usually holds a diploma or certificate in childcare that typically requires two years of study and possibly holds in addition a teaching qualification such as a PGCE or QTS and has extensive experience as a nanny, tutor or teacher.
Governess Salary Guide
Starting salaries are £600 net per week and upwards to £1500 net per week in accordance with qualifications/experience and previous salaries acquired. Room and board (or separate accommodation) to be provided by the family.
Salaries are based upon a 5 or 5.5 day workweek and 8 hours daily.
Bilingual Governesses
Our Governesses are primarily English mother tongue (EMT). We also provide Italian, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Russian & Portuguese speaking Governesses upon request.
